[Disclaimer]

CNN will be airing a report on this Wallis-Boyd discussion tomorrow morning. I’ll bet they don’t show Boyd’s comments about demonic powers controlling the governments of the world. The liberal, secular media is always trying to make Christian look like idiots. They would never show a Christian give such a reasoned response to the problem of evil.

Mark my words. They won’t show it.

They’ll probably show Wallis appealing to people’s emotions and trying to stir up compassion. They want to portray Christians as irrational. It’s disgusting.

I have to point you to another excellent article on this topic.

  1. “Christian Liberal.”
“Isn’t that an oxymoron?” they ask? Is it possible to be Christian AND liberal?”
“What are you doing this for?” “Are you being sarcastic? Cynical?”

Yes, I have to agree there is an element of satire, even cynicism, in my posts, but I AM serious about being a liberal Christian.

I guess getting right down to the core, the rant comes down to exposing the rampant hypocrisy of self-appointed Christians, who distort Christ’s teaching for the purposes of justifying their desire to murder people in cultures they don’t agree with, protect their own financial assets at the expense of the environment and the working standards of people in other countries, and to segregate and dehumanize anyone of lower class status or non-traditional lifestyles.

This can be seen even in several responses, which seem to suggest that money going into the war machine somehow actually helps Americans. The argument completely ignoring the fact that the output of such production goes to bombing houses in other countries, “peacekeeper” missiles, billion-dollar bombers, and occupying other lands half-way round the world. What a disgrace!
We could really do good for the American workers and world by putting that cash into health care, infrastructure, science, and research.

There’s a favorite hymn here in California . . . “They will know we are Christian by our love, by our love . . .” But there’s no love in a B-1 bomber, no love in a nuclear bunker-buster bomb, or remote drone that rains death down from the sky.
Oh, is that too cynical for you?

    Christian,

You just don’t get it. Here is the word of God through the prophet Samuel to Saul:

“Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation—men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys.”

Saul went on to carry out that order except that he spared the life of Agag, the Amalekite king. When Samuel heard this, her personally “hacked Agag to pieces before the Lord at Gilgal.”

Yes, God loves what we are doing in Iraq.

I think your problem is that you are focused on the historical Jesus. But even the historical Jesus said that the rest of the Bible was about him! So, when Saul killed every woman, child, and baby in the Amalekite tribe, that was really Jesus doing it.

You really ought to read my posts on Duane Litfin to learn why we can actually ignore the historical Jesus who said things like “do not resist an evil person”, “do good to those who abuse you” and “it is impossible to serve both God and capital.”

Don’t give up! You’ll get it eventually. It also helps to watch fair and balanced news on Fox.
